What is "Faux?"
Faux is a "fake" finish created by different tools and mediums to mimic the look and feel of real textures. A fauxpawprint® is the creative combination of a great portrait or candid shot of your pet blended the craftsmanship and artistry of one or more "digital darkroom" techniques. The result is a vibrant, one-of-a-kind work of art as uniquely beautiful as your pet.
What is a giclee print on canvas or fine art paper?
A giclee (zhee-clay) is a vibrant, vivd, and impressive high-resolution, archival-quality digital print. Giclee differs from a lithographic print in that giclee printmaking is "dotless", eliminating the traditional printing screen dot patterns used to reproduce full color. Without the dot pattern, a giclee fine art print looks like an original piece of art with brilliant, exquisite color and razor sharp detail. Your fauxpawprint® is delivered to you either on museum quality, gallery-wrapped stretched canvas with stretcher bars or as a giclee on fine art print paper.
Will my fauxpawprint® fade?
Our Giclée prints offer an image stability rating of 100+ years due to the archival-grade UltraChrome K3 pigmented inks and acid-free media we use. Our canvas prints are also treated with a UV-protective coating to add to their durability and light fastness.
Do I have to frame my canvas or print?
For a contemporary look, your fauxpawprint® giclee canvas option is gallery-wrapped on stretchers with the image visible on the edges (or color on the edges for a clean look if you prefer--see photo above.) Professional grade 1-1/4 inch thick stretchers are used for a substantial look and feel. It does not need to be framed. Your canvas print will arrive with hanging hardware attached. All you need to do is take it out of the box and decide where you want to hang it. The fauxpawprint® fine art print is printed on luxurious museum-quality fine art paper and we highly recommend that it be framed under UV-protected glass.
Can you customize my print to match the decor in my home?
Yes! We strive to custom create everything your (he)art desires! If you would like us to match a paint chip sample or pantone or other color swatch for use in your fauxpawprint®, please feel free to mail it in! We can also work from web color numbers or any color id# if you have it.
Can I ask for any particular text or other specific images in the background?
Yes, we want to accommodate all of your wishes. Please email us with your particulars.
Can you add photographs of two (or three or more?) pets in the same picture?
Yes, please add 40.00 for each additional pet.
Can I get my fauxpawprint design also printed on items such as mousepads, mugs, t-shirts, cards and other items?
Absolutely! There are many "accessories" you can get for your art. We will be happy to offer you a vast assortment of fun products, and will keep your file in our artwork vault forever in case you ever want to order. Please click here to see items we have created for others.
ABOUT THE PROCESS
How do we start?
First, we need a digital image. Please remember that the highest resolution images yield the highest quality print. The best file format size and resolution is a 300 dpi jpeg. The minimum file size should be 1MB. If your digital camera is 5 megapixels or higher and you've taken the photo at the highest setting, that should be fine. If you have a question about the resolution, please email us at info@fauxpawprints.com. Tiff image formats are fine, too.

What if I have a photograph and not a digital file to send you?
If you do not have a digital image, we can scan your photograph for you. We will return it to you in exactly the same condition it was received. If the photograph is irreplaceable, we suggest that you send us a copy, as we cannot control or be responsible for loss through the post office. When mailing, we also recommend that the photo be placed between two rigid pieces of cardboard and sent in a bubble-wrap style envelope. Be sure to include your order information with the print.

Can you photograph my dog for me?
If you are in the Portland, Or area, we are happy to photograph your dog specifically for a fauxpawprint. We charge a special fee of 35.00 and will take approximately 10-20 different shots. These photographs are not for sale, and will only be used for your fauxpawprint. Of course, if you like your photos "Paw Naturale," we offer a full range of photography services in Porland at www.pawparazzo.com
Do you have a printable order form that I can mail in with my photo?

How long will it take to receive my fauxpawprint?
Most fauxpawprints® take between 7-10 days to design and print. Shipping times will vary.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A non-refundable $45.00 art deposit is required on each fauxpawprint® prior to beginning your design. This deposit is fully credited toward your final purchase. The balance of your order is due once you approve and select the final proof prior to printing.
Will you send me a proof?
We will email you a link for you to view a soft proof (digital image displayed on your computer screen.) You may choose from one of the proofs provided. Your design price includes one (1) set of design revisions. If you are still not satisfied after your free revisions, and need additional work, our design fee is $50.00 per hour. Regarding proofing color: In most cases your computer monitor will not accurately display the true colors of your image. Using industry-best color management, your canvas will be a much higher quality than can be displayed on your screen. You will be required to sign off on a proof before it gets printed.
What if I want to cancel my order?
You may cancel any portion of your order before we begin working on it. If you think you have made an error in submitting your order, or if you have changed your mind, contact us and we will correct or cancel the order ASAP.
If we have begun the design process, you will forfeit all or a portion of your deposit, depending upon how far along we are.
What if I am not happy with the print I receive?
We want you to be completely thrilled with your fauxpawprint®, and guarantee your satisfaction. We will provide a full refund to you if you receive your artwork any differently than what you approved for us to print. If your fauxpawprint® arrives damaged due to shipping problems, we will replace the print if you return it to us. We cannot replace the print or refund your money with no obvious damage.

Can you send me a sample?
Sorry, we are not able to at this time.
Can I buy a copy of the digital file?
Sorry, just as photographers do not release negatives, fauxpawprint® does not release completed high resolution digital files. While you retain ownership on your original photo, fauxpawprints.com holds the copyright.
